Tracy Kelso LMHC, CAP, CET

Professionally

I have a Master's Degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida.  I am Licensed as a Mental Health Counselor, a Certified Additions Professional and a Certified E-Therapist in Florida.

I have over 10 years of  counseling experience.  Working with individuals that suffer from addiction, mental health issues, or co-occurring  disorders.  I have worked in a variety of settings both in inpatient and outpatient facilities as well as in private practice.    I have worked with individuals that were voluntary as well as those involved in the criminal justice system.  I have  had experience in the  roles of  Clinical Supervisor and Clinical Director as well.

Therapeutic Approach

I approach each person as an individual with a lot to offer and not merely a diagnosis.   I like to build on an individual's strengths and help him/her move closer toward the "authentic self".  I pull from various theoretical backgrounds such as Rogerian, Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-foucused, Gestalt,  Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodramtic, A.R.T.,  as well as many others.

I use what works for each person and as we are all unique I do not believe in a "one size fits all" answer.  I believe in promoting self-empowerment above all and teaching healthy communication, healthy boundaries and healthy ways to cope with uncomfortable feelings and situations.    I work in collaboration with  each individual to help foster growth.  Each person holds the key to recovery and my job is to offer guidance so he/she can unlock it.
